Mission of Hope

What is the Mission of Hope Ministry here at St. Benedicts?

St. Benedict’s Mission of Hope (MOH) ministry provides financial assistance to needy parishioners and Broken Arrow/Coweta residents in the form of help with utility bills (electricity, gas and water), rent and incidental needs. Broken Arrow and Coweta residents seeking such financial help from MOH are generally assisted in conjunction with other local organizations toward meeting the client’s needs.

How is the effort funded?

The MOH service to the needy of the parish and community is made possible solely by the generosity and self-giving nature of the St. Benedict parishioners, all of which are greatly appreciated.

How much does MOH spend in assistance to the community?

In 2022, MOH financial assistance to parishioners and the community totaled about $55,345 AMong 365 requests for assistance. Most of the requests in 2022 were for financial assistance for utility bills. Generally most of the assistance funds spent went to non-parishioner clients.

What happened to the MOH Food Pantry?

As many of you know, MOH also maintained an “in-house” food pantry from 2010 through September 2021. With the knowledge that several food pantries operate in and near our community to serve our clients, the MOH Food Pantry consolidated its operation in September of 2021 with The Ministry of Compassion at St. Ann’s Parish. We continue to welcome and encourage weekly food donations from our parishioners which are brought over to St. Ann’s on Monday mornings.

Thank you for your continued support helping our fellow neighbors in need. Without your financial assistance, our MOH ministry would not be possible.
