The Sacrament of Baptism Baptism is a sacrament which cleanses us from original sin, makes us Christians, children of God, and members of the Church. Baptism is one of the sacraments of initiation and it starts a Catholic on a journey of faith. It introduces one to the Church community with whom one will live and grow spiritually. With the sacrament of baptism, the Catholic community commits to be the baptized person's guide and companion on their journey of faith. Parents and parents-to-be, who wish to have their child Baptized, are required to attend a Baptismal Preparation class. Sponsors are also encouraged to attend this class with the parents. The class presents the theology of Baptism, the roles and responsibilities of parents and sponsors, the symbols used in Baptism and the Rite of Baptism itself. The Baptismal Preparation class is offered once each month, on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. Pre-registration is not required. Please check the bulletin for day and time of the class, or call the parish office. Do you have more questions about the sacrament of Baptism?
